Over ⅓ of API community members in San Francisco live below the poverty line.

They've been underserved for far too long. The API Council advocates for equitable resources that improve the quality of life for San Francisco’s underserved Asian & Pacific Islander residents. Watch this video to learn more and stay tuned for updates on our mayoral town hall on September 26th! The API Council’s mayoral town hall is the only mayoral town hall tailored to the city’s API community and the only mayoral town hall providing interpretation services. We’ll be spotlighting issues important to the API community, like housing affordability and sustaining safety net services, and show how the API community is a powerful cultural, economic, and civic force in San Francisco. @edgeonthesquare presents High Five: Exploring the Elemental Forces of Chinatown, its 3rd Annual Contemporary Art Festival, on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

This year’s theme centers on the five elements: Earth土, Fire火, Metal金, Water水, and Air气, and invites you to uncover new realms of Chinatown through the prism of these fundamental forces.

Five Chinatown alleyways and streets will represent an element and be interpreted by artists in their activations:
🌿Earth土 | Grant Avenue
🔥Fire火 | Waverly Place
⛓️Metal金 | Ross Alley
🌊Water水 | Wentworth Place
☁️ Air气 | Joice Street

The one-day event will spotlight API artists and their multimedia artworks, installations, activations and performances throughout the neighborhood. Alongside cultural partners, arts organizations, local restaurants and vendors, and community residents, a collective voice will amplify unity and sing solidarity all over the streets of our beloved Chinatown with art, music, food, performances and much more!

We were honored to join so many other community leaders and officials from California to discuss a range of topics, including small businesses owned by minorities and food insecurity, and look forward to more collaboration with the Biden-Harris Administration to ensure API needs are heard and met.
